  1. Hi,I am trying to simulate a bird impact on a plate with RADIOSS. So I am creating my model on hypermesh now, i chose to consider the bird as a fluid with a density of 438 kg/m3. I would like to work with SI units and the dimensions of the bird are : 0.1325m long cylinder with two hemisphere ends having a radius of 0.075m. I am now trying to mesh this geometry with the SPH module in hypermesh. So i entered a pitch of 1e-3m and a density of 438kg/m3 as i said before. But when i create the mesh, nothing happen and i only get this message "0 mass elements created". I attached my file with the topic. I don't know what could be my error, more of that I tried to do it using mm instead of m and it worked... But I really want to use SI units. Thank you in advance for your help, Gaspard.   2. Hello, I have a model in the form of STL file format. I have imported STL file in HyperMesh. but there are components which are intersecting with each other. I cannot change the shape of the component and being STL file there is no geometry. Is there any way to remove intersecting parts? and convert stl to 3d mesh for FEA simulation?
  3. Hello, I'm performing a convergence study on the attached model. The idea is to run multiple simulations for the same model using different mesh sizes, and then determine the appropriate mesh size for this model to guarantee accurate S-parameter results. The simulations were performed using custom meshing for 3.5 mm, 2.5 mm, 1.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 0.5 mm in all of these trials the S-parameter plots were different. Thank you. H_pln1.cfx

  5. Hello, I would like to tetra mesh my component from a 2D mesh of trias that already exists. The 2D mesh must remain constant as it has a load applied to it that cannot be changed. The problem I am having is that the tetra mesh option 'fixed trias to tetra mesh' produces large size elements in the middle of the model. I would like to constrain the maximum size of the 3D tetra mesh so its does not increase in size in this way. Is this possible? Thank you in advance
  6. Hi; I'm working on Hypermesh V13.0 and I have to mesh a cylindrical die oncoming from Solidworks ( Save as .STEP AP203). On Hypermesh I want to decrease the external diameter of the die for exemple I want to mesh the die with this different diameter : Ø40 / Ø35 / Ø30 / Ø25. This operation is possible with Solidworks but it's very long lasting because I have to mesh 14 die with four different Ø (--> 56 similary meshing). And for my simulation is better if I have the same meshing on every diameter. My approach for this is : 1st : I import geometry which is step file type : For beginning I import a die Ø40. 2nd : In "GEOM" tool menu I use quick edit for decrease my Ø; for this I use the washer split with an offset value : 2.5 (to have 5mm on the Ø). After I supress the older lines with toggle edge (the older lines are on dotted line). --> And now I fail to mesh my new geometry (with F12 tool menu) When I use (size and bias) : Surf --> Display --> Mesh : The older lines (dotted) are meshing. --> Surf --> By Window --> I select the lines which I want meshing --> The older lines aren't meshing () but I don't have mesh on the new external surface of the die as the die is hollow. --> OK // --> External surface NOK I think my approach for decrease the external diameter isn't good. I think I have to create a new surface but I just create news lines. For your information I don't have the center of my die in hypermesh I hope you understand my problem and you can help me. The __cad_dir.zip is not a readable .zip file. No mesh is generated for the model data base. I haven't found the python script file "pnlAmsExport.py" to see what it's doing.

  10. Hi, I am wondering how to add a local mesh to a port. I can add a local mesh to a dipole but the mesh is not added to the port connected to dipole. How can I overcome this? Thanks in advanced
  11. SKEWNESS: The equilateral or equivolume skewness is non-dimensional ranging from 0 (perfect tetrahedron) to 1 (degenerate). S = ( V_opt - V ) / V_opt V_opt = 8/27 * sqrt(3) * R^3 = Perfect tetrahedron volume V = tetrahedron volume R = circumsphere radius ASPECT RATIO: Aspect ratio is non-dimensional ranging from 1 (perfect tetrahedron) to infinity (degenerate). AR = Longest Edge / Shortest Altitude DIHEDRAL ANGLE: Cosine of the dihedral angle of the tetrahedron. Smallest and largest are given. rByR: The unitized ratio of the insphere radius to the circumsphere radius of the tetrahedron. You see '-1.0' as the minimum if there are non-tetrahedral elements.

Hey, I have the following issue during meshing my 2D airfoil with an obtuse trailing edge: I would like to mesh my airfoil like that: BL-Mesh with quad elements from leading edge to trailing edge (upper and lower part of airfoil) and the vertical area at the trailing edge (photo: yellow 1D elements) with tria elements (therefore farfield instead of wall) in order to avoid the quad mesh around the trailing edge (see photo with red quad BL elements). However, when doing this with the Tool "2D Native BL Mesh Planar" it says "selected elements do not form closed loop" (see photo). Therefore I would like to ask, if there is a possibility to avoid quad elements at a certrain part around the airfoil with the Tool 2D Native BL Mesh (Planar)... Or is there a possibility to delete the quad elements around the trailing edge and remesh this area? Thank you very much in advance for your help! Cheers, Martin
  13. Hello Everyone, i am having a problem with Hyperworks version 2017.2. I have an already meshed model.When i delete a mesh on one surface and then mesh that surface again, the new elements don't attach to the ones on the adjasent surface, although both surfaces are attached to each other. Does anyone know how to solve this probelm, without having to remesh the model? Also when remeshing a surface without deleting the mesh on it before, the new mesh just sits above the old one as if it were not there... So i get 2 meshes above each other. Can someone please help? Thank you!

  15. Hi, I am trying to simulate a thermal ablation, where the antenna and tissue is touching each other. I am getting ERROR 3848: Wrong specification of the medium for a wire segment. However, when I set up the antenna and tissue apart I am not getting the error. As I understand this error occurs when meshing 2 touching objects with different materials. I am not sure how to fix it. Any help is much appreciated Thanks
  16. Hello, for a certain element type in Hypermesh I am able to switch between 1st and 2nd order. Is it possible to set also reduced integration for a chosen element, or to prescribe the location of the integration points? Thanks for all information, Matej
  17. dear all, I am trying to simulate tensile test in hyperworks. For meshing I am using 2D element because it is a tensile specimen made of sheet. I am very much concerned about quality of mesh, because when i am using automesh command it generates very irregular mesh. I have seen many papers in which meshing is very fine in critical area and the quality of mesh is also good (transition of mesh). Geometry of specimen is complex because im using modified specimen for simulating shear fracture. Can anyone suggest me that how I can improve mesh quality near the center of the specimen and i also want to fine meshing near center. I have read about mesh transition but I don't know how to do it in my case. I have attached the image of mesh used by others and also mesh generated by auto mesh in my case. I have taken mesh size 1. please, help me.
  18. Our bolts, nuts, and washers, have part numbers where the letter m is either the second or third character. All of the other characters are numerals. How can I delete *m* collectors? I want to get rid of all of my bolts, nuts, and washers quickly. I do want a chance to review them first and make sure I haven't accidently somehow included a desireable part. Then after the review, delete them all! I am using HM 12.0 on Windows 7 on an HP computer. Thank you. Phil

  20. Hello, I am trying to 3D mesh this solid part by using solid mapping. I tried "trim with surf" to make the part mappable but I don't think I can create surfaces/divisions good enough for solid mapping.I am also attaching the partially trimmed version. Which method I should follow to make the rectangular sides mappable and get rid of the red layer in the cylindrical part? Thank you in advance, Muge
  21. I have a full vehicle with Body, Chassis, Suspension, Axle, Cabin, Floor, Roof, Glass, Windshield, Tyre, etc.. in actual manner as in complete assembly. 2D components are present. Now I want to create 3D in a single component for all the 2D components for my analysis. I don't have enough time to mesh all components in 3D & connect. I want to transform the 2D comp to 3D, the may be I can connect all the solids together into 1 component. Please suggest an option. Is there any Batchmesh available or may be tcl script? The Sample 3D model pic is shared for reference. I want the same thing.
  22. Dear Admin, I would like to ask your kind advice regarding meshing. I have a 3d voxel meshed file. The voxels are defined as solid sections. Now, all I want is to remove the voxels which are not sharing at least a common face. So, if any voxel that is not sharing a face with another voxel but sharing an edge or a corner, needs to be deleted. I want this to be done for all the existing voxel elements with one single procedure and not one by one. How can I do this. Thanks in advance.
  23. First of all, sorry if I added this question not according to the official Terms of use. It´s my first question... The problem itself is quite easy to solve i quess. I want to create a 2D mesh that is more coarse in one direction than in the other. In my case I want to have only 3 sections in the y-direction and very fine sections in x-direction. I created the geometry by first connecting 2 nodes with a linear line. Then I created a Surface by dragging along a vector. The mesh was then created by AutoMesh. Thanks in adcvance! Cheers
  24. Hello, I have been trying to understand and adapt the Radioss Thermal Example (RD-5300), in order to make it represent the stress relief procedure. Alternatively, as the time of operation is relatively short, one might think of it as a welding process, with a lot of heat input into the material and generating large temperature gradients. I have been using HW2017.2. The assumptions are as follows: 1. The "weld" along a square trajectory is subject to a high thermal load from the "Source". 2. The "Source" has a constant temperature of 1300 K, and transfers heat through Inter/Type7 to the plate. The coefficient of exchange is high (1000 units), in order to provide a lot of heat in limited time. 3. The heat transfer is based on the actual temperatures of both components (i.e. Ithe=1). 4. The convection heat transfer coefficient is arbitrarily chosen as 1.0, and the ambient temperature is set to 298 K. 5. The initial temperature of the plate is 298 K, i.e. it is the room temperature. Now, the results are puzzling. I particular, I obtain some negative temperatures on the contour plot, and there are temperature "waves"/"oscillations" on the model. I suppose it is associated with the thermal stability conditions and the mesh sizing, but - RADIOSS does not generate any warning - I guess the Help system has some gaps in the relevant topic, and I am not able to figure out how to correct the model. In particular, /DT/THERM, according to the Help page seems to require no parameters, whereas I suppose it should work like /DT or /DT/NODA. I find as well the /THERMAL topic very limited, and I do not know how to properly use the time scaling for thermal material data - In particular, I do not now to interpret the time stability limit. Should the time chosen be smaller than the one calculated from the formula, or rather larger? - In the help system, I could not find hints on correct meshing for a thermal transient problem - I was not able to find a means of making Radioss (or HyperMesh, or HyperView) estimate and present the local values of thermal stable time step, and the time step chosen for the simulation seems to be derivced from the standard "mechanical" Courant condition. Artificial reduction by /DTIX did not help in this case. Please shed some light on the topic Regards and thanks in advance Marek Augustyniak Poland Alu_Stress_Relief.zip
  25. Hi, I am doing the simple optimisation, which has inlet at one side and outlet on other. I have done CFD tetra mesh and want to perform a free shape optimisation. I am getting the error on running the solver. I have attached the screenshot.
