  1. Hi, I am currently trying to do composite optimisation of a carbon fibre sandwich structure monocoque. I have been following the "composite optimisation of a formula student monocoque" tutorial on the Altair university training website and am up to the shuffling stage however am not getting any results and getting this message: *** WARNING # 1569 for element id = -70001.   2. Hello, I assume most of us are familiar with the Hyperworks tutorial "Composite Optimization on the example of a Formula-Student-Monocoque". I have done the tutorial and everything worked fine. Then I looked at the properties of one of the materials used (Rohacell). I looked at Rohacell IG http://www.rohacell.com/sites/lists/PP-HP/Documents/ROHACELL-IG-IG-F-mechanical-properties-EN.pdf and I noticed the following: this material cannot be defined with MAT1 because it does not fulfill the requirements (E < 3*G) and NU < 0.5. My question is, which material card should one use to define Rohacell IG? And are structural foams isotropic (in general?). Hypothetically, ROHACELL WF could be used for the tutorial, because it fulfills the requirements of the MAT1 card, but I'd like to know how to deal with Rohacell IG. Thanks in advance!
  3. Hallo everybody. I want to run a free size optimization with Optistruct. My model is an Formula Student Monocoque. Everything is ok until I set the optimization. I have got 9 loadcases. One of them is pure torsion. Now, that´s what I have done so far. - I set the design variable "free size" - I set a response static displacement and took two nodes (dof 3) with an dconstraint, lower an upper bound and all loadsteps - I set a response mass with an objective min I set the cards: - PARAM, in_rel=-2 - GLOBAL_OUTPUT_REQUEST: CSTRAIN and CSTRESS - OUTPUT: FSTOSZ I set opticontrol: - DESMAX= 80 - OBJTOL= 0.005 - DELTOP= 0.5 The Check is ok, but when I start an optimization there is an fatal error after about 20 minutes. INFEASIBLE DESIGN Then I tried to make an new response. The displacement response only with the loadstep with the pure torsion and another response with composite failure and the other eight loadsteps. But the free size card don´t support that response. The check and optimization .out files are attached. FInaly my question. Is there any way, how I can fix it. Or another way I can run an optimization? Thanks for your help check.txt optimization.txt
