  1. Hi, I am a beginner at using HyperMesh and I need some help regarding this issue. I want to achieve Node to Node connectivity between two seperate parts from one Assembly. I meshed both with Volume Tetra Mesh. I have also already found and read an older post where someone asked a similar question on how to achieve this. The way I interpreted it is that I have to mesh first the red Part and then I have to Project the Elements from the red part onto the gray part. The next step would then be to Volume Tetramesh the red part? Unfortunately I cannot get it done, everytime I try these steps there is no Node to Node connectivity. Maybe someone can give me a detailled step by step explanation so I can find what I am doing wrong. Greetings, I'm trying to read data from a node path that I've selected, using the way shown here http://www.altairhyperworks.com/pdfs/tips/1068.pdf I can see the "resolved in" option but I'm unable to change it to my cylindrical local coordinate system. Modeled in hypermesh and solved in abaqus, in Hypermesh I assigned my local csys to all nodes, still no luck. I'll be grateful if someone can help me with this. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi, I am creating a script where I want to orient the model such that I can clearly view the interested node and capture a zoomed-in image. So far, I am able to set the desired orientation. But, I am unable to zoom exactly at the interested node. Is there any way I can achieve this? Thanks, Roshan
  5. Hello Everyone, I have an issue with moving/tranlsting nodes that are placed on the circular shape. E.g.: How can I move nodes of internal surface of a tube to change it's wall thickness? Could you please give me any advice? Thanks!
  6. Hello, While meshing, sometimes the nodes do not follow the geometry properly due to faceted surfaces. Even projecting the nodes on line and surf does not help. Even though it has a negligible effect on analysis, do we have a remedy on this? Please see image below for reference. Thanks and regards, Bharat
  7. Hi, I am writing a tcl script and I am trying to get the user to inform the script of where the script should be taking place. I want to request this by having the user select (pick) a node. From this node I would want to retrieve the X,Y,Z locations of that node, and store them in a variable and proceed with the rest of the script. How might I do this? Thanks in advance for the help!   8. New to HyperWorks, I am currently working through the Hypercrash Tutorials and this problem has occurred a few times on different exercises. I am hoping to find a reason for what is causing it and how to fix the problem. When Selecting the [Gnod_iD] Support* for a boundary condition a couple of times after making my selection the entirety of toolbars are greyed out (see below). I have confirmed the selection as you can see there is no option with Yes/No/Cancel/Expand in the right bottom corner. I still have the option to edit my selection however, after I confirm the selection everything remains greyed out and so I can not continue with the tutorial without closing the program and continuing from where I last saved. This doesn't happen always and I haven't noticed anything that I do differently between when this does and doesn't occur. Any help is appreciated, Rob
  9. I'm currently working on a unit cell study (carbon fiber + matrix + additives). I thought it would be very easy to mesh it out and run my test, but I've been spending too much time in determining good quality of mesh. I have 3 components (3 different solids) that need to be meshed. I was able to successfully tetra-mesh individual solids with curvature and proximity, but couldn't find the way to somehow connect them. I tried to re-mesh multiple times with 2D automesh to tetra mesh technique, translating surface meshes to another, assigning equivelent on the duplicated nodes, etc. But frankly, it's too time consuming to accomplish good quality mesh, and I can't spend more time in this part. Later on I found the contact surface method preventing the penetration between parts by assigning slave and master BCs on shared surfaces (i.e. outter surface of carbon fiber and inner surface of matrix). Please give me some advice whether node connectivity can be replaced by assigning contact surface. My one concern is that later on I'll have to check the carbon fiber penetration in a reality scenario, and this method won't work for that due to the slave/matster bounded condition. If node connectivity must be properly done (which I assume..), please provide me some type of tutorials that present about connecting "multiple solids". I've went thru lot of meshing tutorials but only found the ones for single component/part or simple geometry setup that can be easily automeshed/translated/rotated.. Figure displays the carbon fiber (purple) and matrix (gray) nodes are not connected. Figure 2 displays the contact surface BCs applied on the shared surfaces of carbon fiber and matrix. Please excuse that I am not allowed to upload the model.. Your help would be really appreciated.
  10. Hello all, For stress analysis, I want to show the stress value of some nodes, in order to make a screenshot for documentation. To do this I put a note on the selected node, and in the note i write {entity.contour_val}. Now the problem is, that i get the value of the selected node and all of the nodes surrounding it. But i only want the stress value of that particular node. Does anyone know what to do? Thank you in advance.
  11. Hi, is there a way to "freeze" some element number, i.e. to make impossible to renumber them? For example, I create a special node with id=100, then I want to renumber the whole mesh preserving that id without masking any element or node. thx to all responses

  13. Hello, i just start to use Tcl script on hypermesh. I've a script who create a simple geometry and mesh on hypermesh. And i need to create boundary conditions. with the commande file I've : *startnotehistorystate {Created Force } *createmark nodes 1 1-19 1920-1945 4553-4559 *loadcreateonentity_curve nodes 1 1 1 -0 -0 50 0 0 50 0 0 0 0 0 *endnotehistorystate {Created Force } The problem is that the nodes are not always the ame (depend on my geometry). Can I create boundary conditions without the number of the nodes ? Like with lines ? Something like : *startnotehistorystate {Created Force } *createmark nodes 1 Line 3 *loadcreateonentity_curve nodes 1 1 1 -0 -0 50 0 0 50 0 0 0 0 0 *endnotehistorystate {Created Force } Thanks Sorry i'm really a beginner with TCL.

Hi all I am trying to run the Lattice Optimization tutorial but as I have a student edition of Hyperworks I'm unable to save the file or export it as the tutorial instructs because the file contains too many nodes (>10.000). Is there a way to easily reduce amount of nodes or increase the allowed amount in a student edition? Best regards, Cecilie

Hello, I was trying to create a node using, *createnode 0 0 0 0 0 0; and then assigning it to an entityset using, *createmark nodes 1 [hm_latestentityid nodes]; *entitysetcreate "SetName" nodes 1; However when I go check the created set in the HyperMesh Model GUI under Sets, it doesn't show any nodes added to it. I'd appreciate any help with this issue. Thanks.
  18. There are 3 components, compA, compB and compC, in my model. My final goal is to find ten nodes that belongs to compA, which have the smallest distance from origin(0,0,0). Also, I want this procedure to be automatically done by tcl script. So, the steps I might take is like: 1. Get all node coordinate that belongs to compA. --> I don't know how to get those information. I have try some command like hm_entitylist, hm_getentityvalue, but in vain. Not sure which command can work. 2. Calculate the distances between every nodes and origin(0,0,0). 3. Sort the distances from small to large, and get the smallest 10 nodes' id. --> I can do these two steps in Matlab, but not sure it will work in Tcl script.
