  1. Hello Everyone! I am doing a response spectrum analysis an like to retrieve a eigenvalues and vectors from normal modes analysis which has already done. I hav saved the eigen value using EIGVNAME = modes and EIGVSAVE = 100. The file is has saved as modes.100.eigv. While doing RSPEC, I retreived the eigv using EIGVRETRIEVE = 100 and same EIGVNAME. But Solving throws an error as, *** ERROR # 372 *** Number of MPC constraints in file modes.100.eigv 474 does not match current value 0. Can Someone figure it out . Thanks in Advance -RathinaVel
  2. Hi, I would like to compute normal modes of a closed box filled with a fluid by using Optistruct. I use the ACMODL card to define the fluid structure interfaces and the EIGRL method to compute the normal modes. As a result I obtain the normal modes computed separately, on the one hand for the structure and on the other hand for the fluid. Is there any possibility to compute the normal modes for the coupled system? Thanks in advance.
  3. Can we use symmetry in modal analysis? When I did with symmetry and without symmetry, I noticed huge difference in the first modal frequency. And this forum, advices against using symmetry for modal analysis http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=333936 But my part is a simple plate where even the constraints are also symmetric. Can anyone adivce me on this. Thanks.
  4. I made a normal modes analysis and now with Hyperview i'm trying to get the data I need. I already got the eigenvectors (X,Y,Z) for each of the modes using the Matrix Browser. Nevertheless when I get those result I don't get the natural frequency (eigenfrequency) related to that specific eigenvectors. As you see in the picture below, the frequency doesn't appear (only that those data is related to "sel1"). How could I make the eigenfrequency to appear there so ones I postprocess the results I can get access to that data? Thanks in advance Sergio
  5. Hi all, I have a deformed surface (a mode shape) obtained by Normal modes analysis. I want to extract the coordinates of all the nodes that lie along a line on the surface of this deformed shape. In HyperView , I have used the section view (at y=273 mm, see below) to see the cross section. By using right click --> quick query and clicking on the nodes, I can see the coordinates of each node (as shown in the figure that I attached below) along the line on this deformed shape. Is there a way to get a list of the coordinates of all the nodes along this line? My aim is to plot this shape later to compare with another result using MATLAB. regards, Vachan

Hello, I was working in a normal modes analysis of an assembly model, Only one attached component it is of interest so I would like to use the direct matrix input for the environment of the component, I have create the ASET constraints in the connection nodes of the environment, delete the retained elements (elements of the component of interest) and add the CMSMET (using the CBN method) card, but when I run the analysis the warning 3865 appear: ** WARNING # 3865 The generated SPOINT IDs for DMIG matrix has overlapped with existing GRID IDs of the model. starting SPOINT ID for DMIG = 169938 ending SPOINT ID for DMIG = 169938 the overlapped GRID ID = 169938 I hope you can help me to solve this problem, thanks in advance.
