  1. Hi everybody, I am currently working on automating an optimazation process for a composite structure with the Solver OptiStruct and HyperWorks Version 2017.3 . Therefore i need to programm a python script which whom i can get the Normal X and Y Stresses of CSTRESS. What i have tried: I checked the OUTPUT-BOX in LOADSTEPS an then checked CSTRESS. The output format i choosed is PUNCH (its the only one i can read with an normal texteditor, right?). TYPE = ALL; NDIV = 1; OPTION = ALL. After the optimazation i opened the .pch file, but the only stress i can allocated is the von Mises Stress i dont want to know. Can somebody tell me where i can find the Normal Stresses, optional the other Stresses and optional the CSTRAIN and CFAILURE? I thank you in advance.
  2. Dear all experts, I have two questions about the coordinate system in post-processing and pre-processing,hope you can help me: 1. In hyperview, what's the analysis system? Isn't it the same as element stress. please see figure 1 attached. 2. In hypermesh, when we create response for static stress, which coordinate system are the normal x,y and shear xy in? I guess the answer is the analysis system above,but I'm not sure.please see figure 2 attached. I think the answers to these two questions are very helpful for us to understand OS.Thanks!
  3. I have created a double sided fillet weld geometry with three plates. This was modeled using solid and shell plate techniques. The case belongs to a normal tensile loading (along X direction as per global coordinate system). Hence, it should ideally possess sigma XX in both the cases. But stress (sigma XX) in shell model is almost 0.25 times the stress obtained in solid model. The stress has been determined at a point farther away from weld, so weld modeling would not be affecting the value in the two cases. This ratio has been consistent even at different load values. I have also iterated the element size varying from 0.5 mm to 3 mm but the deviation has been consistent. So, mesh refinement might not be the reason for this. Please anyone enlighten me with the possible causes. Thanking you in anticipation. P.S : I have attached the simulation file (.fem files) for both the cases.   4. Hi, I have a solid cylinder and I need to get the stress results in cylindrical coordinate systems. I already defined a cylindrical coordinate system, but I don't know how to assign it to the elements. I appreciate if someone can help me with this problem. Thank you, Soraya
  5. Hey Guys! I would like to check the stress in the fiber direction in a composite body. I did not find XX stress, or P1 stress for a given ply in the fiber direction or perpendicular to that. How can I check these stress and strain values? Thanks for your help in advance! Best regards, Tüki
