  1. Hi everyone, I am new to lattice optimization, and i want to control the diameter beam size and have a better understanding of CLEAN option. If i understood well, CLEAN option can be used with MinRad to delete beams under the radii defined in MinRAD. - When i don't touch the lattice parameter panel, CLEAN is set to YES by default and clean beams with very small radii (E-05 mm) at the end of phase 2 - When i use only MinRad (2mm) and CLEAN set to NO, it get all the beams above the radius defined. - But when i use Minrad with a radius of 2mm and CLEAN set to YES, it has trouble creating a feasible design. Is it because CLEAN option only works with very small radii ? It doesn't simply delete beam under MinRad in the end of optimization? For information, my mesh size is 5 cm, and my objectif is to create à structure with big enought beam, but with less beam without changing the mesh. Thank you in advance.
  2. Hello, The Topology Optimization in Optistruct by default uses the Direct method for the Sensitivity analysis. I am predicting the result variation using the Adjoint method. It would be of great help to me if I know the way that I can make the solver use the Adjoint method of Sensitivity anslysis. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
  3. Hi everybody, I am a new user, and these are my questions: How can we modify the direct method to adjoint method? How can we access and print the values of built-in adjoint-based sensitivities at each iteration? Also, Could we change the sensitivities and feed them to OPTISTRUCT instead of the default re-built ones? I am looking forward to hearing from you.

I got an error when I run optimization. ************************************************************************ A fatal error has occurred during computations: *** ERROR # 312 *** In static load case 1 the compliance is negative or large -5.62632e+013. 5. Hello,Forums I am doing analysis of a unique CFRP pipe by Optistruct. I am receiving this following error message: *** ERROR # 605 *** Element 1 is referenced by STACK 1 (on PLY 1) and by STACK 2 (on PLY 5) simultaneously. Different stacks are created by dividing the upper and lower areas of the pipe into sets. There seems to be an error because it refers to the same element Is there any good way to do it? (Modeling is possible but analysis is error) CFRP-PIPE-Asymmetric laminated.hm
  6. Hi, I am working on a lattice optimization problem for a UAV configuration and I am getting the following error for a series of grid points to which REB2 and REB3 elements have been attached. There is also a SET defined in the model containing all of these points. *** ERROR # 835 *** A dependent d.o.f. of rigid elements should not be defined in ASET. grid id = 23766106 component = 1 I have an idea of how to fix the issue but I do not want to mess up the FEM file as I was not the original creator. Any pointers?
  7. Hı, My question, what is the difference between the following options. These results are calculated according to what? Thank you.
  8. Hi, I would like to know, is it possible to solve any simple problem, using global constraint & block aggregated approach by varing relaxation , aggregation and penalty parameters? Thanks
  9. How can we prove Topology Optimization method by Analytically/ Mathematical modelling. If not complex any Simple structures to show results matching with CAE techniques. ?
  10. Hi How do i do to create DESVAR and generic relashionship to different materials (>200 materials? ) in Size Optimization? I'll need to create DESVAR and geneneric relationship for each one(200 materials) ? Do you have tutorial about Size Optimization (Young's Modulus) E for differents materials?
  11. 12. Hi, Since this morning I try to run optimization but I always get the same results: an optimization error (even for a simple model such as below where the load case seems correct to me ...). Do you know where this may come from ? (I have succeeded other optimizations the previous days using the same computer & software configuration, for information)
  13. Hello SolidThinking community, Could someone please point out what I'm doing wrong, or advise a better way of setting my part up for optimization? My part pivots around a shaft near the top such that, it can swing down to contact a vertical wall. I am unsure how to "fix" the wall in all directions. Currently I am using small displacement constraints set to 10e-6. I have set the contact between the wall and part as "contact", and the contact between the shaft and part as "bonded". The contact along the top surface, where the pressure is applied, is "bonded" with the part. The optimization fails every time.. Any help would be great appreciated. Cheers!
  14. Hi , I would lik to know if someone knows le the link between the analysis and the optimisation work. I mean , i can chose the size of the elements during the analysis ans choose the option coarse or accurate . What is the impact on the optimisation process ? thanks you Best regards Virgile
  15. Hello! I have a rocker which should be optimized. I added force and joints, but no matter I try maximize stiffness or minimum mass (there is always "design violations" with the safety factor) the results are not so good. The picture shows how the rocker works. The .stmod file is also attached. Thank you very much! Best Regards 01_Rocker_FEM.stmod
  16. Hi, I'm a final year student currently undergoing a final year project about lower arm suspension. I'm still new to this software and I'm hoping that you guys can help. After I've optimized my lower arm suspension by minimization of its mass, it says design violation and it had shown me my original factor Of Safety 2.1. Does it mean it needs to be higher or lower? Or did I do something wrong in applying the force? grtab.stmod
  17. Hello, I run the optimization without errors. However when I check the results in the iso mode, the final step shows an model without elements already at an iso-value of 0.02 (only the non-design elements left). What am I doing wrong? The hist.mvw and the .out files attached belong to the mvw and hm files (when saving I only changed the version from 2 to 3). Could anybody please help me? 18. Hi Guys, I'd like to share "Tips and Tricks" regarding Lattice Design and the NonDesign Space. First to mention: Please keep Inspire updated - we introduced Lattice in 2017.3 but the last few months, we put a lot of effort to increase performance and stability! ATM (April 2018), 2018.1 is best to work with! If you are unhappy with the "resolution" of your nonDesign spaces after a lattice optimization - you can manually force the nondesignspace (per part) to use smaller elementsize inside the model configuration: Comparison: Before: After: Furthermore, you can create a smoothed lattice before you export it as an STL: Regards, Felix
  19. Im getting the following error when i tried to put composite shaft with constrains Mass, and Composite Failure Upperbound 1. The Objective Function is Min Compliance. *** ERROR # 1807 *** Composite failure responses are applied to ply 9 which belongs to a topology or free-size domain. Help needed, Thank you
  20. I am trying to find some tutorials about multi-objective optimization by combining a "volfrac" and a "compliance" response in the DRESP2 "function" card. HS-4205 and HS-4425 ,these are not helpful to me.
  21. Hello everybody, I'm preparing my master thesis using the software Optistruct 14. I need to use the lattice optimization tool but I don't understand the difference between the 4 types of lattices. I tried all of them and the geometry seems a bit different but I would like some further details about that.
  22. ESAComp is software for analysis and design of composites. Its scope ranges from conceptual and preliminary design of layered composite structures to analyses of details. ESAComp is a stand-alone software tool, but thanks to its ability to interface with widely used finite element software packages, ESAComp fits seamlessly into the design process. The comprehensive material database of ESAComp forms the basis for design studies. ESAComp has a vast set of analysis capabilities for solid/sandwich laminates and for micromechanical analyses. It further includes analysis tools for structural elements: flat and curved panels, stiffened panels, beams and columns, bonded and mechanical joints. ESAComp is developed and supported by Componeering Inc., Finland. www.esacomp.com or check out our Altair Partner page http://www.altairhyperworks.com/partner/ESAComp ESAComp-Intro.pdf
