  2. Hi, I am a beginner about non linear simulation, I want simulate a contact about a gear transmission. In Altair tutorials I found this example:"OS-1520: Finite Sliding of Rack and Pinion Gear Model" that could help me. In the simulation, the motion is create by "enf_rotation" from a displacement of 5 radians. The load step hasn't Load declared and the rack is free to move on x. Now I have three questions: -What differece is between SPC and SPCD? If I used SPCD for "enf_rotation" would I get a different result? -Why there are contact stress in results? (There aren't forces or torque, the rack is free to slide) -If I want evalue the contact stress about a gear trasmition with a motion torque on pinion and a resistence torque on gear wheel, is this hypermesh's tutorial a good way?   3. FEM model for eigenvalue analysis was created with Femap with NASTRAN. The file extension is dat. However, the analysis at NASTRAN took a very long time. So, I want to import this into HyperMesh, and perform eigenvalue analysis with Optistruct.   4. Hi, I have a problem with my model because i doesnt show any optimization after i ran the calculation.Plus, the solver are empty and its only said that the job is completed. I'm using an Optistruct of my school which connected to the server i guess. Please help me.
  5. Hi! I wanna model the rotation of a gear (wheel) with a preload in the pinion. I asume the preload is modeled with a moment but, how do I model the rotation? And which analysis type should I choose? (I don't want a quasi-static one). Some analysis don't let me include a LOAD. Thanks in advance!

  7. When I run my model, the solver starts to run but hangs up without showing any error or warning, I just get to see the following output: The amount of memory allocated for the run is 1000 MB. This run will use in-core processing in the solver. After this, nothing happens, neither can I kill the run nor abort it or pause it also, I cannot close the window. In the top right corner, it shows, Iteration: 0 Progress: 100% Iteration progress: 0

  9. Hello, My doubt is about Hinge joint declaration in Optistruct: What is the difference between first and second grid? It has something to do with dependendent and independent nodes? Or the order in which i pick the nodes does not affect? Thank you!
  10. Hello, I am trying to run a Linear Static Analysis of a huge assembly. I have 4 ISO Corners at the bottom. I have 2d meshed it (Simplified Geometry : Quad4 Elements only). When i fix the bottom face only of all the four ISO corners and run my simulation i get unsatisfactory results. By unsatisfactory i mean significantly high stresses and displacements. But when i create a RBE2 on each of the 4 individual ISO Corners (i.e 4 RBE2's) and apply constraint/SPC (All 6-DOFs FIXED) to those 4 RBE2s master node, i get satisfactory results. Could anyone explain why this contrasting results or mismatch?
