1. Bodies position

Hi guys, I truly need your help. As you can see in the attached picture, I'm trying to understand if the initial inclination of the pneumatic cylinder has any effects on the torque needed to tilt the arm. I imported the CAD into my motionview model (Cylinder in vertical position) and I would like to know if there is any way to rotate the cylinder and its components (cylinder case and piston). I tried to achieve this result by defining the position of the Center of Mass as a function of the inclination angle (expressed as a solver variable, in order to optimize its value by using hyperstudy in a second moment), but I'm afraid that I simply translated the center of mass instead of rotate it (see picture), in fact the floating marker associated to the piston is not tilted. How can I achieve this result? How can I rotate the graphic too? (I tried with "orientation" but I cannot fully understand which angles it desired as input) Thanks for helping me in this matter.
2. CFAST ORIENTATION

Hello, When creating cfasts using the following command: 1D > connectors > spot > type CFAST ELEM (GA-GB) I select all the nodes imported from the cad model, then I select all the components of the model. This creates all the cfasts but, when viewing them in 1D Detailed Element Representation, some show the orientation axis, while others show the detailed representation. Is this because the connectors are not alligned correctly? How can I correct the orientation? Thanks for your help. N.

4. Composite Using Solid Elements

Hi, I built up a Tension analysis wit a coupon speciment. Material: LAW12 Property: P6_SOL_ORTH I want to set up the materialorientation. I tried to assign the nodes to a coordynatesystem, which is rotated by 45 grad and tried to set the parameter "Psi" on 45 Degree, but neither of them worked. 5. auto cbar element orientation

Hello All, I am trying to create bar element from component edge which is illustrated with red dashes below. But orientation of the bar element is crucial for me. However, x direction of the bar element starts from lower node number to higher node number. An example of this problem is presented below. orientation of the 1st bar element is shown with green arrow line and orientation of the 2nd bar element is shown by orange arrow line which are at different directions due to numbering of the nodes. In order to achieve this problem I have tried to renumber nodes however renumbering does not follow a certain direction. moreover hypermesh does not allow me to update orientation of the element by using bars - update panel. Is there any way to create bar element that follows the circular direction and all of them are oriented clockwise ? Thanks in advance
6. Importing Systems Include File

Hi, i am working in Hypermesh with Abaqus Standard 3D Template. I try to import a Input file with a reference to a include file with coordinate systems. Incule File looks like: **HMNAME SYSTEMCOL Orient1, 1, 3 *ORIENTATION, NAME = Orient1, DEFINITION = NODES, SYSTEM = RECTANGULAR 3, 1, 2 3,-45.0 I get the following warning: Warning: *ORIENTATION card with DEFINITION= OFFSET TO NODES is not supported in Hypermesh-ABAQUS Resolution: This card would not have read in correctly into Hypermesh. My Question: How can I change the Orientation defintion to get it work in Hypermesh without loosing information about the systems? Thank you.
7. BAR(2) - change the orientation direction

Hi to all, is there a way to change the orientation of CBAR elements, when using Hypermesh with Nastran user profile? In other words, if I create several bar2 elements in a clockwise direction along a circle line, how can I "change" the bar to be in counterclockwise direction? Thanks
8. How can I check the composite stress in the fiber direction?

Hey Guys! I would like to check the stress in the fiber direction in a composite body. I did not find XX stress, or P1 stress for a given ply in the fiber direction or perpendicular to that. How can I check these stress and strain values? Thanks for your help in advance! Best regards, Tüki
9. Bolt Pretension 1D Elements - Problem

Hello, while modelling a simple calculation for a pretensioned bolt with 1D elements, i got the following problem: In the visualisation you can see, that the 1D element on which the pretension is applied to gets lengthen. (A 'pretension' is applied, but to the wrong direction.) According to the pretension file (.pret) everything seems to be reasonable, even if i add an additional tension load case after the pretension sub. However the contact forces do not. The '1D bolt' i used is a single ROD element , which is connect to the guiding (independent) node of a RBE2 spider of the washer (shell elements) to both sides. I attached a picture where you can see my definition in the Pretension Manager window. I also attached a picture of the property of the ROD element. I read all the infos in the users guide and online-help, but can't find an answer to my question. How can this problem be solved? Do i have to use a special orientation of the pretension section and how is this defined correctly. Please, i need your help!
10. FEM Simulation of 3D Fiber Structures

Dear HyperWorks Team, I have a question regarding the Fiber Optimization with Optistruct. Is it possible to not limit the optimization of Fiber Directions inside a solid to a 2D layer? More specifically I am working on a project where we put Carbon Fiber Tows into a Wooden Base Product in a completely free manner (the Carbon Fibers can be put as fully three-dimensional Spline Curves inside the Base Material). Therefor I am looking for a Tool where I can simulate both 1. the Anisotropic behaviour of the Wood, built from various layers/directions 2. Optimize the 3D-Structure of Reinforcement Tows of Carbon Fiber inside this Base Material. I am pretty confident, that 1. is possible, but I couldn't find documentation for anything like what we want to do in 2. Can you help me out with this?
