  1. Hello, I have created a 2D model (a simple rectangular panel) and meshed it with quadrilateral elements of size 5. Loads have also been applied to the edges of this panel. Now I want to change the size of the elements to 2 : if I use "automesh" again, all loads will disappear. How can I modify the size of the elements without influencing the loads ? Thank you all
  2. Hi, I'm running a 3D model and am trying to perform a shape optimization on 5 similar structures on a beam. It is a beam with 5 circular cuts made throughout it with a specific loading applied to it. I ran the shape optimization once and it ran for 12 iterations and then gave the error that the mesh became too distorted and was unable to proceed with the optimization. I looked online and found that most people are using the "remesh" option in the opti-control setting to combat this type of termination error. I have applied the remesh option in opti-control and ran the optimization again but now I am receiving the error shown in the image below which I can't seem to find any information for on the forums. Would anybody be able to weigh in on this? Thanks ahead of time! Dylan Stelzer
  3. Hello Everyone, i am having a problem with Hyperworks version 2017.2. I have an already meshed model.When i delete a mesh on one surface and then mesh that surface again, the new elements don't attach to the ones on the adjasent surface, although both surfaces are attached to each other. Does anyone know how to solve this probelm, without having to remesh the model? Also when remeshing a surface without deleting the mesh on it before, the new mesh just sits above the old one as if it were not there... So i get 2 meshes above each other. Can someone please help? Thank you!

  5. Hello, I would like to do some lattice optimization in Hypermesh. However, I need to know if it is possible to have a different mesh size for the lattice sections compared to the solid sections. The way I understand lattice optimization in Altair is that the element size you mesh with originally will determine the average length of the lattice struts. For example; I tetra mesh my model with a size of 2, the lattice beams have an average length of 2. However, I would like to have a mesh size of 0.5 with lattice elements of length 2 (or vice versa). My game plan is to run a minimize compliance with volume fraction on my model with a penalization of 1.8 (low porosity). Then use the results of the compliance optimization to split my part into sections for a given element density threshold. I should end up with solids for the lattice elements and solids for the non-lattice elements. The lattice solid sections will then be filled with lattice beam elements from another lattice topology optimization. I want to remesh each solid individually for different lattice strut sizes and types. Contact surfaces will then be used to connect the solids together and then run the Lattice optimization. The end goal is to use mesh refinement on the non lattice sections to check the validity of my model as well as experiment with different lattice sizes. Any advice is greatly appreciated. -Eric

I was wondering why I get some messed up mesh (and consequently some free faces flying around, marked in the screenshot) when I use tetra remesh to take care of tetra collapse and other element check factors. I need to mesh the transition layer you see in the attached screenshots. When I tetramesh it, it's ok and no free edges/faces. But after remeshing the tetramesh locations with problematic tetra collapse, I end up with some weird elements protruding to others and some free edges/faces that even equivalence couldn't get rid of them! Any help/idea is greatly appreciated. Also let me know if you know a better way to mesh this transition than tetramesh (the area of the inner squares are 1/4 of outer squares). Thanks a lot, Maysam
  7. Hey everybody, I have a question that seems to be easy but I can't figure it out. Could anyone tell me how I can remesh a whole model (consists of 20 different components, all are S4R elements) maintaining all connectivities and mesh type (quads) as much as it's possible. I just want to remesh a model that I have to get more finer mesh (40mm to 25mm) but I don't know how to adjust all the factors in 2D>Automesh to get the minimum of changes (less work to clear up the model). The model just has suare- and rectangular-shaped elements and I'd rather to keep it that way but every time I remesh it all the elements change to deformed quads which is a mess. Is it even possible to do it or I have to take care of the components one by one!? Thank you in advance, - Sam
  8. Hello guys, I'm now trying to remesh my model via hypermesh. Let me briefly introduce my research process. I had a framework elastomer sample, and I sent it to do the microCT scanning. After some post analysis, I got a .stl file which is meshed by the vertices and edges. However, the mesh from .stl itself are not what I want. There are too many elements and the quality is bad that cause my abaqus not responding. Is there any methods that I can remesh my existed .stl file via hypermesh? Thanks a lot~
  9. I recently meshed my Solid component by using Tetramesh. When I supposed to remesh with my preferred values (Tetra angle, Quad angle or biasing), I cant find a variable meshing option. How to remesh with my preferred value? Thank you in advance.
