  1. hello, i'm doing a size optimization in order to match the drequencies targets for the first 10 modes. so i defined my design variable wich is the PBUSH stifness k1..k6 and as and objective is the MIn using DSYSID (iwth all the 10 first frequancies and the targets) but some how i don't have the right results thats i want i have in my model DESVAR refered to stifness of PBUSH DVPREL1 DRESP1 MIN WITH a DSYSID everythings is well defined i don"t if there something else to add to my optimization to work
  2. Hi all, Does anyone know if there is a tool in Hypermesh which says the average element size of a 2D mesh? I could use the measure tool and get the distance between two nodes of an element, but I am interested in get the average of all elements. Thanks in advance, Alex
  3. Hello, I would like to tetra mesh my component from a 2D mesh of trias that already exists. The 2D mesh must remain constant as it has a load applied to it that cannot be changed. The problem I am having is that the tetra mesh option 'fixed trias to tetra mesh' produces large size elements in the middle of the model. I would like to constrain the maximum size of the 3D tetra mesh so its does not increase in size in this way. Is this possible? Thank you in advance

  5. Hi, Is there any way to reduce the weight of a file? After performing several designing steps and trying to simplify the part as much as possible, the part doubles, triples and continues...this without adding any more details at all. Inspire works fine with a part of 3-6 Mb in my computer... when I exceed these values everything is too slow. I would apreciate a early answer please David
  6. Hi, my name is Javier and I´m from Spain. I´m currently the dynamics system manager in Formula URJC ( Formula Student team) and I´m using the templates to design our next suspension system. But I have a problem with the template. It seems like the tire in the template is not 13'' because the wheel centre point is in the 262.64 coordinate in Z axle. We are using Hoosier 13'' wheels and I need to change the body radius, because if I change this coordinate, the only change that appears is in the point not in the wheel size. How could I change the wheel size? Ok, now I want to take advantage of the opportunity and ask another question. I have already seen the tutorial about how to input a target for the suspension system design, so here is my question: What happen if I achieve a target with the optimization and then I want to achieve another target but this one may change the first one? Does an error appear? Or does the program calculate a compromise solution? Thanks! Javier
  7. Hi everyone, I m making a composite size optimization and need to use the same design variable to multiple plies. Simplified, I need several different plies to have the same thickness and I need several plies with diferent thickness aswell. I formulated the problem this way and create a generic relationship to each ply, using only one design variable for multiple plies. This didn't work and appeared an error. I checked the dlink card but I dont know if that fits my purpose because how can I link DVs in order to have the same value? Any ideia on how can I do this? Best regards, Gonçalo
  8. Hi, I'm working on a complicated size optimization with many different beams. This script https://connect.altair.com/CP/kb-view.html?kb=41128 seems to be really useful for the problem. Unfortunately, the values of the design variables doesn't reduce during the iterations, which leads to the soft convergence. If I change the initial value near the lower bound value, the optimization works. Of course this isn't an acceptable solution for bigger models. I attached the example file. The initial values are set equal to the upper bound values, so that the problem becomes clear. Could you help me with this problem? Best regards, Kai example1.hm
  9. Hi, I am more interested in stress distribution at one location of the model than on some other parts. In the field of interest I would like to make mesh finer compared to other regions of the model. This means that on the shared surface edge I would like to have 2 different element sizes. Could someone tell me how to do this? I am using 2D shell elements with 2D-automesh panel and this tool does not allow to have different element sizes on shared edge. Please also see the attached figure. Thank you.
