  1. I'm modeling a representative volume element that it's basicaly made by a cylinder inserted into a cube. I need to make a spring contact between this two parts, changing the spring stiffness i want to analyse the perfect and the imperfect contact. Anybody has a tip to build this model with spring elements (CBUSH) only in the common nodes between the cylinder and the rest of the cube? Those spring elements need to be at a cylindric system. I have something like this:

  3. Hi, I have a problem. I defined a spring type 4 with a force - displacement curve, where the spring ends move together. It works very well. Now I want to create a time-sensor, which should deactivate the spring after a time t=0.015 s from the beginning of the simulation. Could someone help me, please? I have already defined a sensor type 0 with tdelay = 0.015 s and have referenced to the spring with lflag = 1, but it does not work. I am using hyperworks 14.0 with radioss 14.0 as well.   4. Hey guys, I'm looking for some help! I'd like to set up a shock absorber model for a dynamic calculation with RADIOSS as a 1D element. How can I do this? The shock absorber I would like to simulate consists of two parts; a spring and a damper element. Of those two parts I have also characteristic curves available, but how can I input them? (The two curves are attached below) The red line is the curve for the damper itself whereas the green line is just for the spring. Really appreciate your help!

  6. HI all, I am an ABAQUS user and a newbie to Optistruct. I am simulating a simple spring compression simulation and have a few queries. 1) What is the element type to be assigned for the 2D - rigid plate to be used ? 2) In ABAQUS, no material property definition is needed for rigid. Is it the same in Optistruct ? 3) For the spring, I have used CPENTA for penta6 and CHEXA for hex8 elements. Is it correct ? 4) What is the equivalent to R3D4 of ABAQUS in Optistruct? Thanks in advance for your help.
  7. Hi all, I want to model a spring with constant force over its elongation. In PROP/TYPE4 I tried to set H1=8, so I can insert a constant function in fctID11(which defines Force vs spring length). When I tried to start my simulation an error occured "Spring with null stiffness, K has to be bigger than 0". From my understanding I wouldn't need to define a K-Factor as it's already defined in fctID11.. Any ideas on how to model a spring with constant force? Is it possible to give a function for the K-Factor? Regards Kevin
  8. Long story and potentially many questions in the same post but all related to the same issue and I ned help! I can't seem to understand how my kjoint2 spherical connection between 2 RBODY is behaving. What I am trying to model is a suspension ball joint in Radioss and I want the rotation to be limited to a certain maximum angle in ANY direction from vertical (creating a conical shaped limit envelop). I created a simple problem to resolve my issues but it doesn't seem to work. I cerated 2 node reference systems in such a way that they move together and that their Z axis is always coaxial. I then limited my kjoint2 in Saz- and Saz+ to ±1 rad but it does not behave as desired. When I plot my TH/spring, I can see that RZ of my spring DOES respect the 1 rad angle limit. But this does not make sense with the visual behavior and the true angle that I can plot in Hyperview that cleary goes over 1 rad. Also Rx and Ry are showing rotation which again does not make sence with the visual behavior. Any help to resolve this is appreciated! Thanks All my simple model files: Radioss_BJ_angle_V19.zip

Hello, I'm trying to set up a simple rocker model using 1D elements for the actual bell crank in Hypermesh and then applying the force at one end of the rocker and then attaching a spring CELAS to the other side, my issue is that for some reason the whole model is blowing up under the loadstep, I'm not sure how to use the DOF for the spring modeled in blue, but I tried to use the correct pin flags on the 1Ds for the rocker so it's constrained to in-plane. I attahed the .hm file as well, any help is appreciated, thanks. 1d rocker.hm

  11. Hi, I am trying to load a bolted structural model and assign pre-tension to the bolt. I have made a spring element connected between two solid parts of bolt. I can see that pretension can be assigned using spring 13 property and also type 32 spring property. In type 32, what so we mean by Stif0 value? Also how to assign pre-tension using both? Thank you

  13. Hello, When I connect all the elements to rigid element and specify the spc fix translation in x,z, rotation in x,z. free translation in y and rotation in y axis. And Apply moment to same rigid element. In result still i see the translation in X,Z. But not Y Thanks In Advance
  14. Hello Everyone, I have a complete model in Hypermesh: components, mesh, materials, properties, .... I would like to export that model from Hypermesh to Ansys Workbench, so that someone who does not work with Hypermesh can use Workbench. Firstly, I followed the tutorial HM-4410 from Hypermesh Help (https://altairhyperworks.com/hwhelp/Altair/hw13.0/help/hm/introduction_to_ansys_model_setup_-_hm-4410.htm?toc=0&printWindow). Then, I added sensors for different types of elements and I export a .cdb file; as you can read in the tutorial. Later, I imported the flie .cdb to Ansys Workbench following a You Tube video (How to import Meshed file from hypermesh to ansys). However, when I open the Model clicking twice on the tap Finite Element Modeler, Ansys can't show all type of elements specifically elements 1D (mass, rod, beam, rigids, etc). In my case, the model has rigid, spring, shell, rod and beam elements; so I am reading in several tutorials and forums that rigid elements don't need a sensor but Ansys can't read them. My question is: what do I have to do to get an identical model in hypermesh and ansys? The pictures below show a simple model with that problem. In the first one you can see the hypermesh model with 1580 nodes and 1498 elements (shell, rigid, mass), and the other two pictures depict the ansys model (Finite element model). Ansys model has 1580 nodes and 1495 elements, so the three rigids elements (CERIG) haven not been read. Thank you for your time.
  15. Hello, I have a suspension arm with a ball joint modeled in Radioss. My ball joint is modeled as a beam element connected to a zero length SPRING2N with very high translation rigidity and 0 torsional rigidity. I would like to be able to show the reaction force acting in my SPRING2N as a vector to appreciated visually and in one glance its orientation in space. I can use an output block /TH/SPRING to plot the magnitude but this does not provide the orientation. I tried /ANIM/VECT but none of the options seem to offer what I am looking for. I also tried /ANIM/SPRING/FORC, but I can't find "where" this result is plotted (vector, contour?). Any help on how I can do what I want? Thanks
