  1. Hi Everyone, I am writing a script to export all the data from a simulation into text files. I however encounter a problem when I try to export stresses, strains and state variables: expected integer but got "". The script is based on the one from here. What am I missing? Thanks, cedev b-full_185_elast_curing.h3d ExportDisp_mod.tcl
  2. Hi ! I have a problem when I try to vizualise Radioss results on HyperView. My model is a foam box under a compressive uni-axial test. During Radioss execution I have no error and warning but when I try to vizualise stress or forces into foam box , I see Stress or forces are egual to zero .... However, deplacement results are not equal to zero and seems correct I attach my model and h3d file Thanks in advance for your help ! modele_eric_modifv5.hm modele_eric_modifv8.h3d
  3. Hello, I compared maximum stress of my model in a linear static analysis with different materials. I went from steel to 7075 aluminum (lower youngs modulus and higher cross contraction number). The rest of my model including the load cases stayed the same and i expected the stress to be higher in the case of aluminum because of its lower youngs modulus. But the exact opposite was the case. How can this be explained? I did some research and found this quote in a PDF from altair (https://www.altairuniversity.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/postproc.pdf) : "Changing the material will not require rerunning the analysis for stress (in case of linear static analysis) and a decision could be taken just by comparing the maximum stress value with the yield / ultimate strength of the material" So i get different stresses in a linear static analysis with different materials, but this quote says an analysis rerun is not required. I am confused. I highly appreciate if anyone has an explanation for this. Thank you very much, Johannes
  4. Hi all I have just discovered aerospace certification stress tool. It uses python scripts to do analytical methods . However i can not get the correct ms vaules. can someone help me to find a way to implement my own method to this tool? regards
  5. Hi to everybody, i have this problem and i hope that someone is able to help me please. I want to perform the stress analysis of some bodies connected to each other and belonged to an assembly (the assembly is a wheelchair moving on the street) , but the stress only of those bodies not of the whole assembly. I saw that one way is using flex body to model the bodies, and it's the only way that i know to check the stress in motionsolve, but it happened this error: ERROR: Error encountered in analysis! (1) The integration has become unstable. Tighten (decrease) integr_tol, h_max, or both in Param_Transient can help stabilize the integration. If the simulation contains distinctive phases, use multiple Simulate, each with its own proper integrator parameter setting, to selectively tighten the tolerance during the period where instability is encountered. (2) If the simulation was terminated because stepsize has diminished consistently below h_min, reduce h_min in Param_Transient to force integration to continue. (3) Non-physical inertia properties, such as mass=100 Kg and Ixx=Iyy=Izz=1 Kg*mm^2, or extremely small inertia on a part with an unconstrained degree of freedom. Make sure the modeling data, in particular the part inertia and the gravity, are specified in proper units consistent with the units given in Param_Unit element. (4) Beam, flexible body goes out of linear range, bushing has large rotation along more than one axis, curve goes out of its interpolation range, higher-pair joint goes out of the range of U or V, etc. Make sure fundamental modeling assumptions, such as rigid contact assumption used in Force_Contact, are not violated. (5) Motion displacement defined using LINSPL, AKISPL in dynamic analysis, or as a function of model states (DX, VX etc), as well as forces defined as a function of other forces, can cause hard convergence and integrator failure. Avoid these modeling practices wherever possible. has anyone some suggest? or is there another method to check the stress analysis in motionsolve, maybe without using flex body? thank you very much
  6. I am performing stress analysis of component assembly having a solid block and a shell plate connected to each other. My question is what is the difference between stress(t) and von-mises ?
  7. Hi, I ran the optimization solver using optistruct with basic point loads as a test. However when i apply the display von mises stress on simple averaging method, there is nothing. It seems to be running fine with no errors so I don't understand whats happening. see picture attached output file spit out this: 1 MaxDisp 1240140 0.00000 0 1 MaxStress 0 0.00000 0 2 MaxDisp 60 0.282330E-01 0 2 MaxStress 31836 -496.786 0 3 MaxDisp 3886 -0.411211 0 3 MaxStress 32798 3767.72 0 4 MaxDisp 65 -0.137933 0 4 MaxStress 12682 1697.60 0 5 MaxDisp 65 0.00000 0 5 MaxStress 12682 0.00000 0 6 MaxDisp 63 -0.815247E-01 0 6 MaxStress 12682 754.470
  8. Hi. I'm using Radioss on Hypermesh12.0 and I would like to activate the following cards: ANIM/ELEM/VONM_STRESS, /ANIM/ELEM/EPSP, /ANIM/ELEM/HOURG but I'm not able to find them in Tools-->Engine file
  9. hi all I have just started to use hyperview. I open gpforce and gpstress cards and load the results. I understand that hyperview shows element stress. However i could not find nodal stress values? How can i see the nodal stress? Best Regards
  10. Dear, I did a sweep calculation for a Degas Bottle, the frequency range is from 15Hz to 100Hz, acceleration level is 3g, when I got the response stress after the model frequency simulation, I outputted the stress tensor of the most critical element, but I found there are 12 stress tensor in the pch file, so how the hyperview use these tensor to get the plot stress? I could not find the way. Meanwhile, how the Optistruct calculate the damage based on the response stress, I mean how to calculate the cycles at interested frequency, I know the help document, but it doesn't tell too much. Thanks a lot! 20191202_GWM_B30_Degas_Bottle_LT_V5_Opt.pch
  11. Hi all, I had modeled a steel Plates of two Cases of Same config as shown in fig. Case :1 2D PLATE 2mm Thickness, F=140N(10N/14 Nodes), constraints at opposite end. Case :2 3D hex Plate 2mm Thickness with 2 Layer of Mesh, F=140N(10N/14 Nodes), constraints at opposite end. Clarification required : 1. Both plates are same in Boundary conditions , dimensions and material property. only the element type varies but why the stress induced is different ?
  12. Hi there, I've run a simulation of the chassis of a car through Optistruct in Hyperview, and there were no errors and everything seemed to run well. However, upon loading into Hyperview, I am unable to view the contour plots for stress/strain/displacement and the four subcases. I am expecting to get a model like Image 1, however am getting image 2. It is as if there are no loads applied to the chassis. If anyone is able to view the model (file attached) and perhaps indicate where I am going wrong it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Chassis_scaled_newI.hm
  13. Hi everyone, I have a question about how the interlaminar stresses are calculated in shell element. I cant find it in the software documentation I have. The thin shell element model does not calculate the interlaminar stresses or shear stresses right? So there is a need to calculate it in another way, does it uses the equilibrium: xTension/dx + xyShear/dy + xzInterLamShear/dz = 0? What about in the free edge, does it assume zero there? What's the failure criteria used? Is it a quadratic considering both xz and yz InterLamShear or just linear? Sorry for so many questions but I need to justify this in my master thesis. Thank you very much, Best regards Gonçalo
  14. Hi, i built a model with Laminates, so how can i see my stresses in the plies. I want to know my stress in the facesheets and the honeycomb plie. Thanks for answering, hubéry10
  15. I would like to determine the maximum stress that each individual component experiences during a crash simulation however, when I try to do this in post processing I can only analyze one component at a time or the maximum stress across several components but not each one individually. Ideally I am looking to plot several graphs (one for each component) of the maximum dynamic stress against time. Is this possible without putting each new graph + component on a separate page. Further to this I would then like to evaluate this stress value to the material yield point, is there a way of looking up this information on hyperview / extracting it from the .out or .rad file and inserting it into a note on the graph?
  16. Dear all. i am new to this forum. Now i am working as a NVH engineer (fresher). i am using Nastran solver to conduct vibration analysis. Myquestion: In frequency response analysis. i usually apply 0hz to 250 hz to the structure and i measure the maximum vonmises stress at each frequency. so is there anyway to plot a graph or track the maximum von mises stress at each frequency. P.S.: 1. live tracking the stress at a same node is easy. (but it will give the stress value at that node for different frequencies.) -> BUT I WANT THE GRAPH like Example: at 1hz - the max stress is 2 Mpa. at 2hz - the max stress is 5 MPa. at 3hz- the max stress is 10Mpa. . . . at 250 - the max stress is -- Mpa. like that ( irrespective of the position , i need only the max stress) is there anyway to plot or track the max stress. please share it with me. (if anyone cant understand my question. please let me know. i will try to explain better or i will give you the input and output files.) thank you. anticipating for the answer.
  17. My load is for some small time period say 6 millisecond and i request result for stress result for 12 millisecond. My stresses values rises in later period drastically(almost at the end of 12 millisecond) .What can be the reason for this how i suppose to handle this problem? Thank you
  18. Hello, Can anybody explain what is the difference between these 2 stress components ; Tresca and MaxShear? I assume that both come from the Maximum Shear Stress theory (Failure theories) so I do not understand the difference between both of them, in which situation they are to be used, etc. Thank you. BR, Hanif
  19. Hi. How I would like to display the shear stresses on the beam. I have tried searching on control cards --> global output request but I haven't found anything.
  20. Hello everyone, I'm trying to set up a direct transient analysis of the beam you see in the picture below (simplified geometry): The beam is meshed with tetra elements. On top the beam is constrained in all dof. In the middle of the beam is a hump and the mass of it has an influence on the eigenfrequency of the beam. At the lower end of the beam a periodically enforced displacement in the range of the eigenfrequency (3 kHz < f < 4 kHz) of the beam is applied. With the FE analysis I want to get information about the following questions: What is the stress at the top of the beam? Later I would like to get information about fatigue. What is the eigefrequency of the beam? What is the exact displacement of the hump in the middle of the beam when a certain displacement is applied at the lower end with its eigenfrequency? So far I've tried to adapt the tutorial "OS-T: 1310 Direct Transient Dynamic Analysis of a BracketOS" to my purposes but I have problems with applying the periodically enforced displacement. Can someone tell me what the best way is to realize this problem with optistruct? Thank you in advance Felix Link to the tutorial: https://altairhyperworks.com/hwhelp/Altair/2017/help/os/topics/solvers/direct_transient_dynamic_anlaysis_bracket_r.htm#direct_transient_dynamic_anlaysis_bracket_r
  21. How do I get the curve points for bi-linear material property for doing crash analysis in Radioss from following data for my AISI 4130 material E- 210 GPa UTS- 735 MPa Yield- 604 MPa Elongation in 50mm GL- 23.5%
  22. Hello everyone, We have to create a fully automated tool that takes the user inputs and solve a defined problem using hypermesh, optistruct and hyperview. I can run hypermesh and optistruct to solve a simple problem yet I can't program anything to display results with hypermesh. I would like to display displacements (i.e. plot them) and capture the graphical area to later import it in the matlab GUI. My understanding is that I have to use the Altair reference guide. My idea is to use the polContourCtrl command. So far I have : hwi OpenStack #Session hwi GetSessionHandle sess #Projet sess GetProjectHandle proj #Page proj GetPageHandle page 1 #Window page GetWindowHandle win 1 #PoiPost win GetClientHandle client #Model client GetModelHandle test 1 #Résultat test GetResultCtrlHandle res #Contour res GetContourCtrlHandle con hwi CloseStack Obviously this does not work. What am I missing ? Thank you.
  23. I am modelling a helicopter blade, with a leading edge mass ballast. I am not sure how to get a standard value for the inter laminar allowable shear stress value for unidirectional carbon fibre. Additionally, how would i model the allowable shear between the metallic mass ballast and the carbon fibre ontop of it? Kind Regards, Mohamed
  24. How to understand stress(von-mises) results in case of shell element ?
