Dear Experts, I am currrently carrying out thermal analysis in AcuConsole on a photovoltaic panel composed of five different layers (Glass cover, encapsulant, silicium cell, encapsulant, Backsheet). I want to consider thermal radiation on the front& back surface of my PV panel according to the following equations for the front and back surface, respectively: . I read in the AcuConsole training manual that calculation of radiation is only possible from surfaces of fluid mediums but I have no fluid in my simulation setup. Therefore my questions are: 1.) Is there any other possibility to implement radiation without a fluid volume (i.e. setting heat flux (boundary condition) to -100 W/m^2 on the corresponding surface)? 2.) The equations above are dependent on a value which has to be calculated by the processor (Trear and Tfront). Is it possible to formulate such boundary conditions that depend on values that will be calculated later by the processor (AcuSolve)? Thanks in advance!
  2. Dear Experts, My objective is to make a thermal analysis of a photovoltaic panel like in the paper I have attached. This panel shall be exposed to a irradiance of 1000 W/m^2 (in negative z-Direction) for 60 seconds at an ambient temperature of 25°C. The target values are the cell reaching solar flux (solar irradiance) and the temperature at the solar cell. I work with Hypermesh 2019 and the AcuSolve user profile. My procedure was similar to the tutorial ACU-T 3201 (Greenhouse Daytime Simulation): I have already defined the problem description and auto solution strategy, model propoerties and solar radiation models, applied volume parameters and meshed the panel with 1 mm tetra-volume elements. When I run the Acu Solve Job Lauchner and open the results in Hyperview afterwards, no results are displayed. Now to my questions: Is it possible to run a simulation with Acusolve without fluid (only solids) in the system? How do I define contact conditions like free convection with the environment or conduction? Do I need an emissivity model like in ACU-T 3200? Do I need to determine surface groups? I have also attached the Hypermesh file so to give you an idea of my simulation model. Thanks in advance!   3. hello guys, I am getting a trouble while performing a simulation on HM-CFD-AcuSolve. The simulation in this case is Natural-convection (Acu-3000 in AcuSolve tutorials). when i completed on AcuConsole (following tutorials), the result was OK. But when performing on HM-CFD, the heat from the inner solid does not transfer to the surrounding area (air). So the simulation falied. my version is Engineering solutions 2017.3 and AcuSolve 2018 (downloaded from Altair connect). I tried to check on .INP file generated by both software (AcuConsole and HM-CFD) for the differences but no result. i also add the following command to .INP file (HM-CFD) to make sure the surface transfer heat: wall_function_heat_flux_factor = 1 but nothing work. Does anybody know about this situation? please help. Appreciate. Thank you!   4. Hello all, I need to perform a Thermal Analysis on a Satellite. In order to do it so simulating the space thermal environment is needed. My question is: How can I simulate the space thermal environment in hypermesh with Optistruct to take into account the specific orbit and time of the year. Thanks in advance, Best Regards
  5. Hey guys, I want to export nodal stresses from a model given in HyperMesh and write them into a .csv-file. The important thing is to only use HyperMesh, because I want to run a .tcl-script to customize and automate this procedure in a following step. Do you have any ideas how this could work without using HyperView or any other post-processing tool? Besides, I was wondering if it's possible to start a Thermal Analysis and placing the thermal load on elements - and not on nodes how it is usually done. Could somebody help me out here?   6. Hey guys! I would like to do a linear thermal analysis. I would like to catch the proper behavior of my system that's why I used constraints in the thickness direction of a thick aluminium plate. The plate should dilate in all direction but the top side of it. How can I apply such constraint which allows the displacement of a node in the positive direction of an axis and obstructs the DoF in the negative direction? Should I use some kind of contact for this purpose? Thank you for your time and your answer in advance! Kind regards, Imre
  7. Hello all, in the analysis of cold plate . I have fins inside the fluid domain and outside the cold plate. If inside and outside fins are treated as thermal shells in acusolve then in hypermesh the elements of fins will be in which collector: fluid collector or coldplate solid collector? As in pic you can see the placement of inside fins and outside fins. Please help.
