  1. Hello, i want to simulate my model with VWT but the Simulation stops with creating the CAD.DIR.   2. How to submit VWT job in cluster with the generated .par file & .nas file in linux cluster ? For acusolve i'm using the command: acuSub -pb <filename> -np <??> -ppn 12 -q acusim -time <????> similarly how to submit a vwt analysis with the generated .par file & .nas file in linux cluster ?
  3. Error Virtual Wind Tunnel: On the following document I detail step by step the procedures used to design, to create the mesh and finally the importation to Virtual Wind Tunnel. The error occurs when running the VWT. The pop-up black screen appears marking the address where you saved the document, and after some time the message JOB NON STARTED still appears. In the end, the pop-up screen disappears after a few minutes. (Which does not happen in the documents that run without any failure) Now, I will describe all the steps taken so far to get the .VOUT document in search of the error. I would be grateful if you could help me detect this error, as I have to give in this project for my Final Work in October, and I need to solve the problem as soon as possible. 1. CAD DESIGN: (The first design had overlaps between surfaces, causing a critical error in the mesh, this time I have solved the problems in such a way.) After the binding errors found in the area of the pontoon and the need to attach these parts, I modified the design. The resulting pieces bind together perfectly with no spaces between them, and there are not any areas that exceed each other. This is the document when opening it from SolidWorks, checking the critical areas of the previous model. (Image 1) Pontoon outdoor area in the previous design, there were areas where both surfaces did not touch each other, they have been modified and now connect perfectly. ( Image 2 ) Pontoon inner zone in which previously the surfaces exceeded each other, now they are perfectly inserted. There are no spare parts, and no strange lines appear when moving the mouse on it. (Image 3) 1. 1. IMPORTING STEP EN HYPERMESH: (Image 4) (Image 5) 1. 2. Scaling the piece for VWT: We use: Tool > scale > scale- (Image 6) 1. Unify all components in the same solid: We use the commands: geom > solid edit > boolean > simple > A: Solids : (we select the elements in the image, creating a single body except for the wheels that remain as independent solids.) > calculate. (Image 7) Then we check that a solid has been generated, and the other components have been emptied. We note that all the components are unified generating a single solid, which has been saved as ''difusor15ynuevoponton ''. 1. 3. MESHING: Commands: 2D > automesh > surface deviation : (Image 9) select the solid pressing: surfs > by collector: I select the solid. > selec (Image 10) The result: (Image 11) I Pulse Mesh, and 300 elements are created, the program suddenly marks the mistake of two surfaces without meshing. Then I run the automesh with Size & Bias, the element heving the size of 7.5 e-3. The result given is 350,798 elements. (Image 12) Later on I check the area that was wrong, that I said before it was at the junction of the pontoons to the broadcasters, ensuring the continuity of the mesh. Apparently the mesh is continuous. (Image 13) I mesh the tires, giving them a size of a slightly larger element. (0.01) Leaving a total of 86,960 items with the meshing of the 4 wheels. Leaving a final result like this: (Image 14) Then we will check for duplicates, the min and max angles and finally if there are any free edges. (Image 15) (Image 16) This way, the meshing of the car would have been completed, and as indicated, a closed volume has been generated. Now we import in FLUENT (Nastram) to open the VWT. (Image 17) Virtual Wind Tunnel: 1. 1. WE PLACE VEHICLE IN THE MIDDLE OF TUNNEL We also slightly introduce the wheels on the ground. (Image 18) (Image 19) 1. 2. IDENTIFY THE MAIN PARTS: (Image 20) 1. 3. Refinement Area: (Image 21) 1. 4.RUN: (Image 22) (Image 23) The Black Pop-up window emerges (Image 24) AcuMesh starts: (Image 25.26) After an hour and a half acuMeshSim disappeared from the Task Manager, the message still remains as: (Image 27) In case it works, the program is not closed for the moment... I opened the .VOUT, to check the errors that appear and compare them with the previous document, in which the errors were displayed in the mesh. The document that showed errors in the meshing showed the following message: (Image 28) The .VOUT of this program that I have explained, the message is as follows: (Image 29) We can see that the errors have disappeared in the meshing. But I can’t run the program. I think it does not get to calculate the whole meshing. If someone could help me please! I need to have results for my TFG. THANKS YOU VERY VERY MUCH. Alvaro L.
  4. Hello, I am trying to import the pressures on a surface from a file onto my model in HyperMesh. I will need to do this via linear interpolation I believe. I am struggling with a few parts of this, so would like to ask the following questions? Does the surface mesh of the model used in the VWT CFD need to be the same as the surface mesh that I will use in HyperMesh for the optimisation? Or can it be refined/changed after the CFD has been performed and the linear interpolation feature will calculate the correct magnitude of the nodal pressure load? Will the changing of the surfaces (e.g. adding a surface in/moving the surface boundaries) affect the success of being able to use the linear interpolation feature for the surface pressures? Does the nodal pressure file for the surfaces exported from AcuOut need doctoring at all before it can be used? By this I mean do I need to change any spaces to comma's or change the file type from .out to .tpl? Thank you in advance
  5. Hello, I am trying to run a CFD on a model in VWT in order to eventually extract the pressure on the surfaces to place them as node pressures on the same model in optistruct. Currently I am having problems getting VWT to run successfully. I have been through the troubleshooting webpage (http://forum.altairhyperworks.com/index.php?/topic/13776-workflow-for-virtual-wind-tunnel/&tab=comments#comment-20229). The Run parameters I am using are: The vwtAnalysis VOUT file is as follows: The vwtAnalysis MeshSim file is as follows: This suggests there is an error in line 65 but i do not know what this means. I am not getting a mesh intersection file if I intersect the model with the wind tunnel boundary. However, I obtain a CAD.DIR but not a MESHSIM.DIR the output folder.   6. Hello, I would like to export / output the surface pressures from a VWT CFD to a text file to be utilised in HyperMesh for a topology optimisation using Optistruct. I believe I will need to use AcuSolve's AcuConsole to this. From within AcuConsole I am to use AcuOut. I am having trouble doing so. Can someone offer some guidance. Thank you in advance.
  7. Hello, I am trying to determine the center of pressure (or center of loading) on my body from my VWT simulation. Is there a way to output this information in acuTrans? I couldn't find anything to do this in acuTrans so I attempted an analytical solution in two dimensions. In acuTrans I can output the drag force, lift force and moment about any arbitrary location in the domain. So for a first aribtrary point in the domain, my moment equals: M1 = Drag * z + Lift * x where x equals the streamwise distance from the arbitrary point and the center of loading, and z equals the vertical distance from the point to the center of loading. This equation has two unknowns (x, z), so another equation is needed. If I get the moment about another aribtrary point in the domain, my next equation is: M2 = Drag * (z + dz) + Lift * (x + dx) where dz and dx are the change in position from the first point. These two equations cannot be solved because it creates a singular matrix that cannot be inverted. Has anyone ever done anything like this before? I was hoping that AcuSolve could just output the COP without having to manually calculate it. Thanks.
  8. Hello, I am using VWT to access to the surface pressures on a model. These are then to be exported and applied to the model within HyperMesh via linear interpolation. I recently came to realise that if I move the model in VWT then the nodal pressure coordinates that I can then export to a .txt file are wrong. They do not align with the nodal coordinates of the model within HyperMesh, but refer to the region of space that they occupy in VWT. Thus, you must translate and rotate the model in HyperMesh first. This is justifiable and works for just one loading scenario. The problem I am having is that I wish to do a weighted compliance topology optimisation with multiple loading scenarios that require the angle of incidence of the flow to change. Therefore, if I rotate the model, the pressure files nodal coordinates will change and I will not be able to use the same hypermesh file (as it will have to be rotated accordingly too). So, is there a way to change the direction of the flow or rotate the windtunnel within VWT - so that my model can stay constrained in its geometrical space but the loading scenario can change? Thank you in advance.
  9. I need to generate a report. This what I did 1.I exported the file from vwt. (.par & .nas ) 2. I meshed using acuMeshSim command in one cluster & generated the MESH.DIR & inp file. after it generated I cancelled the run 3. I uploaded the inp file & MESH.DIR to another cluster, ran the analysis. Its completed. Now I want to generate a report with the data. How to do it ? Which command should I use. its a linux based cluster. I've tried "/users/soft/altair/12.0/acusolve/linux64/plugins/bin/acuVwtReport" . Its not working in the cluster. Or Is there any other option to automatically generate the pressure, velocity, y+, streamlines plot in the cluster ? Please tell me what to do.
