optimize a single point constraint to withstand forces

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am a new HyperWorks user and I’m trying to setup an topology optimization.

As optimization constraint, I want to declare a maximum force on my SPC’s, but I don’t know how.

The SPC’s I’m using are respectively bolted holes. I have defined them with RBE2 Elements with a calculated node in the middle of the hole.

In the post-processor I already can see the forces on these SPC’s.

Is it possible to define these forces with a maximum value in the pre-processor? How can I optimize these SPC's forces to an maximum value of force they can withstand?

Thank your beforehand for your answer.

Hi Mitch,

A work around in 12.0 could be that you could attach a spring element between the structure and the spc location and create a static force response for the spring force.

I hope this helps.  :)
