Composites: System Reviews Dialog and Tensor output

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have tow questions concerning the display of results with composites.

1) I would like to use the Systems Review Dialog to check the orientations of single plies in my composite model (modelled ply based for Optistruct with PCOMPP property). As you can see in the attached picture the single plies are not available for selection in the Systems Review Dialog even though they are available as layers in the contour plot menu.

In the documantation for HyperView it is stated: "For reviewing 1D Elemental, Ply, and Material systems, the Advanced Result Math template must be selected in the Load Model panel when initially loading the model and result file.  In addition, a solver input deck is also required as the model file."

I Use the advanced math template and in the Load Model panel I only can select two files (load model (*.hm), load results(*.h3d)). How can I add the solver input deck (.*fem)?

Or do I need to change other settings?

2) In an Altair webinar video (see min 19:56 in https://altair-2.wistia.com/medias/zqn515pj8i ) I have seen that composite stresses can be displayed as tensor. With my seetings they are only available as scalar values. How can I display them as a tensor according to the video?

Hi,

This is a known issue. As a workaround, can you write out composite stresses in tensor format when you are requesting through control card?

Please refer to the image below on how to input model file and result file through HyperView.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply.

For cstress there seems to be no option for setting tensor as output type.

I did that already exactly as shown in the screenshot but it does not work...the layer selector is still empty :-(

Could you have a quick look at my model? It's just a simple dummy model which serves for training purpose for my much more complex modell I am working on right now....I have uploaded the .hm, .fem and .h3d file to your dropbox.

I am using HyperWorks 13.0 and in HyperMesh the Aerospace (OptiStruct) Profile. The composite is modelled with the ply based approach (PCOMPP).
