Contact Definition

I am modelling low velocity impact of a ball on a plate. The plate is modelled with 3D brick elements and ball with rigid shell.

Now while defining a contact (plate as slave), since I do not have 2D elements, is it normal to define this with the available 3 D elements of the plate?

OR

Should I create 2D elements on the surface and then assign slave? If this is so then wont these 2D elements affect the results?

Dear Bharath,

You can try by creating a contact surface for the solid face (Analysis>>Contactsurfs>>Select card image as Surfseg) and can assign as master for defining the interface.
