Arul 3 Report post Posted November 5, 2016 How to conduct Non-linear Modal analysis ?
gopal_rathore 38 Report post Posted November 7, 2016 Hi Arul, Normal modes analysis or modal analysis needs to be carried out in optistruct and the basic output is the eigen frequency or natural frequency of the system based on either constrained system or unconstrained system. Now coming to the non-linearity case, where in the system you have non-linearity, is it due to friction, material properties,damping,non-linear spring properties etc. I think these parameters can be included during normal modes run itself in optistruct and as we do not consider the displacement values during modal run non-linearity due to geometry can be avoided. Guest Report post Posted November 7, 2016 Hi Arul, It is not possible to run a normal modes analysis with non-linearity. But depending on the use case, you can run a preloaded normal modes analysis and the preloading subcase could be nonlinear.
