Amar17 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2017 Dear all, anybody please tell me, whether mixed mesh (Hexa+Tetra+Pyramid) is compatible with the stress analysis under the transient loading in radioss. The time duration of the load is very small. Is there any concern in doing mixed mesh in such a loading condition?
Guest Report post Posted August 16, 2017 Hi Amar, The compatibility depends on the model complexity. User has to check whether the load transfer is successfully happening between these element configurations.

I think, since the pyramid elements are automatically generated at interface of the two configurations (hexa and tetra), all the nodes should be connected there. So why do we need to check the load transfer?
Guest Report post Posted August 18, 2017 HI Amar, As a general note it was mentioned. Ensure the connectivity and you can continue.

I am using HW 12.0 Radioss. When I go to Toolbar->mesh->assign->element type, I see that only pyramid5 elements (in 2D and 3D page) are available (See the attached image). Does it mean that only 1st order pyramids could be generated at the interface of the hex and tet mesh?
