Contact surface for no component penetration during static analysis

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have multiple solid components. For my Analysis, I'd like to connect some of the components in certain Areas, but not everywhere where the components "touch". In order to do that, I equivalenced some of the nodes of the two components, which works absolutely fine for my model.

But: I would still like to have some of the solids' surfaces not to be connected with equivalenced nodes, but at the same time the surfaces (that are next to each other and in undefined contact) should not be able to penetrate each other during the nodal displacement of a static analysis.

How can I create the option that a surface is defined as "not penetratable"? I tried different things, for example creating contact surfaces on each component. But that does not work as I thought it would.

Could anyone help me, please?

I would be happy to receive any kind of hint or short explanation. Thank you!

Regards

Hampel
